What is Massage Therapy?

Picture
Massage therapy is manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person's health and well-being. There are dozens of types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities).

How does it Help?

We offer therapeutic and deep tissue massage at our clinic, and some health insurance companies cover massage. Our therapists provide a warm and relaxing environment with individualized treatment emphasizing areas that are in particular need. For many patients, the combination of chiropractic and/or acupuncture with massage is perfect for what ails them. We offer half hour and hour massage, and can accommodate hour and a half massages by request. Our therapists are trained in multiple techniques, including cranio-sacral, deep tissue, post-injury, relaxation and pregnancy massage.

What to Expect

If you have never seen a massage therapist before, it is reasonable to feel nervous. We’ll explain what we are doing, check with you to make sure that you are comfortable and discuss options that feel right to you. Massage treatments are safe and highly effective. Just like starting a new workout program can make muscles temporarily sore, you may experience a bit of soreness after your first adjustment. If that happens, a few minutes with a simple ice pack over the sore area can calm it right back down.

Kerrie Doran

Massage Therapist
Originally from Oakland California, Kerrie received their massage therapy license in 2021 after attending East West College of the Healing Arts here in Portland, Oregon. They enjoy practicing myofascial release as well as deep tissue massage, and when they are not practicing bodywork, Kerrie can be found at a local park with their pet tortoise or attempting to cook a meal sans meat recipe.
Kerrie is currently only able to treat out-of-network or MVA patients. They are patiently awaiting their addition to the insurance panels, but until then, is available to treat those without massage benefits, out-of-network patients, and patients with injuries from a car accident.
